Things I wanna accomplish this year 2021- AKA- Todo List

The year 2020 was like a roller coaster ride. while most of the other peoples bitching around, 2020 turned out to be the year with a lot of mixed emotions. after a series of rejections finally, I got my dream job🎉.

Things I wanna accomplish this year 2021- AKA- Todo List

The year 2020 was like a roller coaster ride. while most of the other peoples bitching around, 2020 turned out to be the year with a lot of mixed emotions. after a series of rejections finally, I got my dream job🎉.

people say that don’t underestimate your self-worth, but deep inside I knew How much I worth(back then). I should be thankful to my boss who hired me with my limited skill set. The first 6 months flew like anything. to be honest while I joined here, I didn’t know how to build a proper layout, conditional rendering nor React.

Things were quite different. I was studying late at night and implementing it on the go. by all means of Trial and error, I used to complete the assigned task. now I have a decent understanding of things. wanna expand my skillset and reach the Ninja Level.

2021- Advise to me- Focus on your core domain(FE and UI) first and then start exploring other areas. don’t repeat the same mistake which I did while starting out. i.e trying multiple things, consuming a lot of programming content.

Don’t rush for things, you will learn, and eventually, you will reach the Ninja level. consistency is the Key.

2021- High level Todo List

  • Get good at React, learn any testing Library.
  • Get good at UI Design (Train my eyes to recognize good design, not just using the tool).
  • Explore Backend (Node/Express // Blockchain)
  • Pet Project to explore new Teck Stack (Last min prep)/ Portfolio/ Design Systems
  • Give back to the Community.
  • Read 5 pages every day (Non-Technical Book)

Let’s break it down-

  • Get good at React, Learn any testing library
    • JavaScript is the Key, so getting good at javascript is more important than learning any Framework. so I will be focusing more on pure vanilla JS and React on the go. I’m in the intermediate level so I can focus on pure vanilla and framework at the same time.
  • Get good at UI Design (Train my eyes to recognize good design, not just using the tool).
    • started as a side Hobby, I never thought I will be doing UI design as a part of my job. Right now I just know how to use the design Tool. knowing how to use the design tools is just 20% of Visual Design. it doesn’t make me a good UI designer. this year I want to learn UI principles in-depth and next year I might explore the UX part.
    • Training my eyes to recognize good design– every week I will be exploring different websites/Mobile App and make a list of my observations- like- what I liked? how did they use the spacing, how the content is laid out etc. I will post it here for future reference.
  • Explore Backend (Node/Express // Blockchain)
    • once am comfortable with JS/ React (FE) I wanna expand my knowledge in Backend preferably MERN Stack. I am interested in learning Blockchain- since traditional web2.0 is new to me. I might explore that when I have a decent understanding of the traditional Backend. I don’t want to follow the Hype around it.
  • Pet Project to explore new Teck Stack (Last min prep)/ Portfolio/ Design Systems
    • To learn the New Tech, I’m working on a Pet project called Last-min-prep. my goal here is to build this Fullstack application and finish it by end of this year. (i don’t want to rush things. this project is to play around and learning purpose).
    • I want to Build my own Design system and components library. what’s the greater joy when my design is used in all of our company projects🧡💚
  • Give back to the community-
    • Don’t be selfish- give back to the community, share my knowledge with the community, teach what I know, mentor upcoming juniors. become a Rock Solid Engineer.
    • I wish I can give a talk- conduct a workshop.
  • Read 5 pages every day (Non-Technical Book)
    • Read at least 5pages from any of the Non-technical Books.
    • I read a lot of technical blogs and I have maintained in my GitHub repo– continue doing the same.

i think these are achiaveable goals by End of this year. not sure. i will try my best and maintan the consistancy throughout.
